A capacity-building training for MyCOOP (Managing Your Cooperative) was conducted for SACCO leaders at the Greater Kampala Returned migrant workers multipurpose SACCO offices in Mukono recently.
The training aimed at strengthening the leadership, governance, and management skills of SACCO leaders so that they can effectively manage their cooperative and improve services to members.
The training brought together all board members, management committee members, and other SACCO leaders who are responsible for the day-to-day running of their cooperatives. During the sessions, participants were introduced to key topics including cooperative principles, leadership and governance, financial management, member participation, and strategic planning.
Facilitators guided the leaders through practical discussions, group work, and real-life case studies to help them understand how to apply the MyCOOP tools in managing their SACCOs. The training also emphasized transparency, accountability, and the importance of member trust in ensuring the sustainability of cooperatives.
Participants appreciated the training for equipping them with practical knowledge and skills that will help them improve decision-making, strengthen financial discipline, and enhance service delivery to SACCO members.
The MyCOOP training is expected to contribute to stronger and more resilient SACCOs in Mukono, ultimately improving financial inclusion and economic empowerment among the 620 cooperative members.
We thank the ILO, Ukaid and the Better Regional Migration management officers in Africa.
